Livin' Life

Happy St. Patricks Day on Tuesday! For any who care to know, and I know I'm just throwing myself out there, we really like St. Patrick's day. And we celebrate it maybe a little differently than some. I get so tired of the 'cute' but silly leperachauns and the green Irish beer and all that which has nothing to do with St. Patrick. We picked up a movie about him years ago and while the movie didn't win any Academy Awards, and may be a little over the top in some parts, it was important in telling St. Patricks story and what he did to bring Christianity to Ireland. I definitely recommend it. Its a great piece of history to know, especially if you have ancestors from Ireland. We also eat corned beef and cabbage, green banana cream pie and mashed potatoes, green jello-of course, and we wear green and watch the movie together every year.
Have fun this St. Patricks Day!

I wanted to throw together a few random photos over the last month. We haven't been up to much of anything but livin' life and loving it, the hard and the sad with the lovely and wonderful. I love having the peace the gospel brings, it seems to smooth out the rough edges of life and remind us of why we should be so grateful for what we have. Here are some photos of the kids, Gabe is big into hats lately and I can keep him entertained at the store for awhile just letting him try on hats. Christian and Laurie are doing well. I can't believe she's growing so big, our little girl. She's asked to play soccer and t-ball this year, I bought her a hot pink baseball glove last week - here we go! This family picture is the only photo I could find with Peter and I in it, from the past month, we're behind the camera too much I guess. Anyway, we delivered Valentines to the disabled folks at the Virginia Home. I thought it would be a good way to teach the kids about compassion, but when we got there, the disabled residents were so kind and happy to see us, and sweet with the kids, I think they taught the kids more about loving each other, it was a nice experience.

I bet you thought we took this photo in Utah, we didn't, but it sure felt like we were back in Utah, we got 6 inches in one day, a 13 year record for this part of Virginia. Can you believe the size of that snowman!

Hey Michelle! I saw your link on Heidi and Joe's blog...hope you don't mind. Your kids are getting so big! It sounds like you are having a good time in VA. I grew up in MD so I love the east coast! We love St. Patrick's Day too. There is a short St. Patrick's Day story on a Veggie Tales movie (Sumo of the Opera) that tells the story of St. Patrick. The kids really like it. It's short, to the point, and it appeals to the younger kids. So, if you like Veggie Tales, check it out! Our blog is private, if you'd like an invite email me. julipoulsen(at)gmail(dot)com
